What is an ACL injury?

So what is an ACL injury? This is the breaking of an ACL ligament.

Acl is known as the anterior cruciate ligament. We have a total of four ligaments in our knees.

And this ligament helps with the twisting of the leg. And it is one of the most important ligaments. So in today’s blog, I am going to tell you about my ACL ligament injury.

So, I was playing volleyball when, due to a sudden twist in my leg, my full tear acl happened.

Usually, there are three types of tears that happen at acl, and treatment is required when a partial or full acl tear happens.

So after medical advice, I went for an MRI test, and that report examined my knee.

And in the report, it was displayed that my ligament is completely broken, which is acl.

And also, I have injured my meniscus, which is basically a cushion in our knee.

Basically, if you have a full acl tear, you will have swelling in your legs and pain for 3–4 days.

After that, if your ACL ligament is completely broken, you will feel your knee coming out, your speed of walk is slow, and your walk is like limping. And pain will be less.

So after doctor advice, I went for surgery on this ligament and meniscus repair at Sant Parmanand Hospital, Delhi.

And after 45 minutes of operation and 1 day of observation, I was discharged.

It took about 15 days to complete bed rest which is mandatory as stiches are there after surgery, and after that, psychotherapy started.

It took nearly 1.5 months to get back to my normal life, which does not mean jumping around; when I say normal life, it just means walking a few kilometres and driving a few kilometres.

Finally, after 3 months, I can say that I have gained 75% of the strength of my knee compared to what it was before it was broken.

Rest improvement is continued, and I say that surgery is just a cup of tea for doctors, but rehab after surgery, exercise, and rest are long processes.
